These terms are the agreement between you and [OPERATOR NAME] ("we") for the Goltrik app and the goltrik.com website. They are written to be read, so they are short. The privacy notice and the community guidelines are part of them.

Who can play

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian.
  • You may not use Goltrik if you have been banned from it, or if the law where you live does not allow you to.

Your account

  • You can play the starter tricks and the Daily Five with a guest account, which the app creates for you. Ranked play, the Daily Five board and publishing your own tricks need you to sign in with Apple or Google.
  • One person, one account. Making extra accounts to raise a rating, to fool yourself or to get around a block or a ban is not allowed.
  • You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else is using it, tell us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
  • A guest account that has not been used for 12 months is deleted.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (You, then Settings, then Account). The privacy notice explains the 7 days in which you can change your mind.

The game

Goltrik is free to play. A hider records a trick: a sequence of moves from the game's own list that moves a marble between two fists. Our server turns the recording into a video. A finder watches it and holds the fist they think holds the marble.

  • Ranked play serves you tricks you did not choose and moves your rating. A timeout after a full watch counts as a miss. Ratings are shown after ten placement answers and may be reset while the game is young; we say so when we do.
  • The Daily Five is the same five tricks for everyone each day (the day changes at midnight in Berlin). It never moves your rating.
  • The web challenge at goltrik.com plays a trick in a browser without an account. Web answers are counted separately and never move a rating.
  • The server keeps the clock and decides every answer. If the app and the server disagree, the server's record counts.

We may change the game (moves, rooms, rules, the rating maths) to keep it fair and fun. When a change affects ratings, we say so in the app.

What you publish

When you publish a trick, it becomes visible to other players with your handle.

  • You keep your rights in your tricks, as far as you have any.
  • You give us a licence to store your trick, turn it into videos, show it to other players in the app and on goltrik.com, include it in share links and the story videos you or other players send, and count how it was played. The licence is free of charge, worldwide, and lasts until the trick is deleted (by you, by us, or with your account), apart from copies other people have already shared outside Goltrik, which we cannot recall.
  • Featuring. We will not use your trick on Goltrik's own social channels or in advertising unless you opt in for that trick. This option is not offered to anyone under 18.
  • House tricks. Tricks published under the name "Goltrik" are ours.
  • Your handle is shown publicly. Choose one you are happy for strangers to see, and follow the guidelines.

Fair play

Do not:

  • use bots, scripts, modified apps or automated tools to play, publish or report;
  • read the answer from anything other than watching the trick (for example by inspecting network traffic or files);
  • use several accounts, or work with other players, to move ratings or the Daily Five board;
  • exploit a bug instead of reporting it (see the security page);
  • interfere with the service, overload it, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.

To protect the ladder, the server computes statistics over ranked play. They are evidence, not verdicts: a person reviews them before we act on any account.

How we moderate

This section is our content moderation policy under the EU Digital Services Act (Art. 14).

  • What can be reported. Tricks, players and handles, for the nine reasons in the community guidelines. In the app: after a trick, More, then Report this trick. Anyone, including people without an account, can also report content they believe is illegal by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL] with the link or the handle, why they believe it is illegal, their name and email, and a statement that the report is made in good faith.
  • What we do with a report. We confirm we received it, a person reviews it against these terms and the law, and we tell the reporter the outcome in the app or by email.
  • Automated tools. We use automated tools for three things only: request limits that stop floods, a filter that refuses reserved and blocked words in handles, and the fair-play statistics. None of them removes content or restricts an account by itself.
  • What we may do. Depending on how serious it is: remove a trick, rename a handle, warn, mute, remove from ranked play, suspend for a time, or ban. We aim to use the lightest measure that works.
  • We always tell you why. When we act on your content or account, you get a statement of reasons in the app: what we did, the facts, which rule or law, whether automation was involved, and how to disagree.
  • Disagreeing. Reply to [CONTACT EMAIL] within 6 months of the decision. A different person from the one who decided reviews it where possible, and we answer with reasons. You can also go to court, or to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act.
  • Serious crimes. If we learn of something that suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we tell the police.
  • Authorities contact us at [LEGAL EMAIL], in English or German.

Purchases

There is nothing to buy in this version. [PURCHASE TERMS: to be written before any sale, phase 7 of the plan. The plan's commitments: prices in real money, no in-game currency, nothing random for money, items are a licence with no cash value and cannot be traded, nothing bought helps in ranked play or the Daily Five, refunds through Apple or Google, and no purchase prompts for players under 18]

Changes and availability

  • We may update the app and require a newer version to keep playing, for example when the rules change or a security fix ships.
  • We may change, pause or end parts of Goltrik. If we end the service, we give at least [NOTICE PERIOD] notice in the app and let you export your data first.
  • We may change these terms. For changes that matter, we tell you in the app at least [NOTICE PERIOD] before they apply. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.

Ending

You can stop playing and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the guidelines, or if the law requires it, and we tell you why (see How we moderate).

Liability

[LIABILITY CLAUSE: to be drafted by the reviewer against the governing law. Under German law the usual shape is: unlimited liability for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health; for slight negligence only for breach of essential obligations, limited to the typical foreseeable damage; statutory consumer rights unaffected]

Law and disputes

[GOVERNING LAW: the law of the operator's seat. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live]

We are not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. [VSBG: confirm this statement for a micro business under § 36 VSBG]

Where the facts come from

  • 13+: plan decision 9 in docs/GOLTRIK-APP-PLAN.md §7 and research 06 §7 (13+, mixed audience, teen defaults).
  • Guest accounts for starter and casual play, sign-in for ranked, the board and publishing: plan 3.4, "The first sixty seconds".
  • Inactive guest accounts deleted after 12 months: cleanup_anonymous_users(), supabase/migrations/20261009170000_v2_jobs_and_queues.sql.
  • Ranked timeout counts as a miss; placement of ten; provisional ratings: plan 3.4 "Window, timeout" and "Scoring in 1.0"; ADR 012; ADR 016.
  • Daily Five on Berlin's day, never the rating: ADR 017.
  • Web answers never ranked: supabase/migrations/20261009120000_v2_guests_daily_safety.sql header.
  • The server owns the clock and the verdict: ADR 003, ADR 016.
  • A trick is a move recording rendered by the server: ADR 010, ADR 013.
  • The nine report reasons: reports.reason check (same migration); the in-app path: apps/play/src/strings.ts safety.
  • The moderation measures: moderation_actions.action (remove_trick, rename_handle, warn, mute, shadow, rank_ban, suspend, ban, lift). "shadow" (reduced visibility without notice) is in the schema; the draft does not offer it as a measure because a hidden measure sits badly with the statement-of-reasons duty (DSA Art. 17 covers demotion). Decide: drop it from the schema, or name it here.
  • Statements of reasons readable by the affected player: RLS policy "statements about me" on moderation_actions.
  • Automated tools: rate_limits/take_token, the handle trigger with reserved_handles, integrity_scan() writing integrity_flags; none issues a sanction (moderate() is a moderator action).
  • Minimum app version: ADR 010, addendum 2026-10-11.
  • Featuring opt-in, off under 18: research 06 §3.1 and §15.12; not built.
  • Purchases: plan 3.9 "Applies when purchases arrive", research 06 §6; phase 7.

Questions for the reviewer

  1. The DSA Art. 20 internal complaint system is not mandatory for a micro enterprise (Art. 19). The draft offers a lighter appeal by email anyway. Is the 6-month window and the wording right?
  2. Is a parent's involvement needed for a contract with a 13–15-year-old for a free service (§§ 106 ff. BGB, the "pocket money" rule does not fit a free service)?
  3. The licence clause: is "until deleted, except copies already shared outside Goltrik" adequate for story videos players post to TikTok or Instagram?
  4. [NOTICE PERIOD] for ending the service and for term changes: propose a figure (30 days is common).
  5. Should the terms require acceptance before a player first publishes (Google Play's UGC policy asks that users accept the terms before creating content)? The consents table has a terms purpose for recording it; the screen does not exist yet.
